When you drive in the area, you will see various matters are being attended to and we are grateful that we are slowly but surely making a difference!! The more involvement, the more results!

The Kenridge The Hills Ratepayers Association (KHRPA) also supported arbour month, which forms part of the City of Cape Town's greening policy, where trees were planted all over the city this month. Ward Councillor Andrea Crous arranged with Parks to donate trees to be planted at the Kenridge duck pond public open space.
As mentioned in our previous newsletter, the Kenridge duck pond area has been identified as one of the "sore eyes" which haven't been maintained properly over the past few years, and the KHRPA is busy with a drive to make things happen! We would like the whole park to become a showpiece that residents and their children can enjoy and feel proud of. What can YOU do to help? Get involved!
We are having a COMMUNITY DAY on Saturday 22 October at 9h00 on the field at the duck pond. Come and enjoy a FUN morning with your family. Details will follow soon on our website.
Please assist us by not keeping the Homeless there. We know some residents mean well by feeding them and keeping them warm, but there are shelters that will keep them fed. You could be helping more by contributing to those shelters instead - and help even more Homeless in the process. A while ago one of the Homeless died right next to the pond - we don't want anyone to be subjected to scenes like that. Children and adults are scared of drunkards and the park won't have the tranquillity we are trying to create!
Most of the LITTER is caused by vagrants and they are using our ponds as toilets. This is making it difficult to maintain our park and poses a health risk to our children. You can phone The Street People Response Centre on 0800 87 2201 for information on how to help.
OTHER IMPORTANT DATES AND MEETINGS
17 October - Annual General Meeting - Durbanville Community Forum (DCF) at 18h00 in the Durbanville Council Chambers (next to the Durbanville Library). What they do affects us all and it is your opportunity to participate!
18 October - Crime awareness drive-through from 18h30 - 19h30. Meet in Mildred Avenue (opposite no. 1). For those who haven't been part of it, we drive in a long line to advertised awareness. We welcome Voovoozelas, whistles, hooters. The kids will love it!
On 20 October all residents of Ward 70 are invited to the Velodrome, VIP hall where Patricia de Lille will address everyone. Geordie sent out a mail telling us about it.
22 October - Community Day - 9h00 - 12h00 at Kenridge Duck Pond.9 November - Annual General Meeting - Kenridge The Hills Ratepayers (KHRPA) at 19h00 at the Kenridge Primary School Hall. Your opportunity to join as a member and will show your commitment. You will be put on our database and will receive regular feedback on proposed bills, new developments, and have the opportunity to say your say!!
